The last corner that changed everything

Massa crossed the line first and for about 30 seconds, he was world champion. His family were in tears of joy in the Ferrari garage. Then Hamilton, who had been running sixth, passed Timo Glock – whose dry tires were useless on the rain-soaked track – in the final corners. Hamilton finished fifth, one point ahead of Massa. The emotions were almost unbearable to watch. Massa's father celebrating, then the realization sinking in. Hamilton becoming the youngest ever champion at 23. I don't think motorsport has ever produced a more dramatic ending.

The race that got me into F1

This was literally the first F1 race I watched from start to finish. I had no idea what was happening for most of it, but those final few laps were the most insane thing I'd ever seen in any sport. Massa won and everyone in the Ferrari garage was crying with happiness. Then seconds later they were crying for a completely different reason. Hamilton passed some guy called Glock and suddenly he was champion instead. I didn't fully understand the points system yet but I was hooked. Still am.

Toyota's gamble that rewrote history

Everyone focuses on Hamilton and Massa, but the key decision was made on Toyota's pit wall. Glock stayed out on dry tires when the rain came. If Toyota had pitted him for wets, Glock maintains his pace, Hamilton stays P6, and Massa is champion. One team's strategy call for a driver fighting for nothing at the front of the championship completely decided the outcome. The butterfly effect in action. Incredible race regardless – Massa was faultless, Hamilton showed nerves of steel.

I have never felt emotions like that

Watching Massa's family go from pure euphoria to devastation in the space of 30 seconds is still one of the hardest things I've ever seen in sport. Massa did everything right – he won the race. But Hamilton got past Glock on the final lap to take fifth, and that was enough. One point. The youngest ever world champion, decided in the last corner of the last race. I was physically shaking. The greatest title decider in F1 history, no contest.
